Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Esteem (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit our websites at esteem.team and app.esteem.team and when you use the Esteem platform (together, the “Services”). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, the categories we use, and how you can control them.
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy (https://esteem.team/legal/privacy), which sets out how we process personal data more generally.
1. What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit it. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website’s owner. Cookies allow a website to recognise your device and store some information about your preferences or past actions.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called third-party cookies; these enable third-party features or functionality (such as analytics or advertising) to be provided on or through the website.
Cookies can also be distinguished by how long they last:
- Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.
2. Similar technologies
In addition to cookies, websites and applications may use other technologies that perform similar functions, such as:
- Local storage and session storage — mechanisms that allow a website or application to store data in your browser, for example to remember your preferences or keep you signed in.
- Pixels, web beacons, and clear GIFs — small pieces of code or images used to understand whether content (such as an email) has been viewed.
- Software development kits (SDKs) — code within applications that can perform functions similar to cookies.
In this Policy, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as “cookies” unless we say otherwise.
3. How we use cookies
We use cookies for a limited set of purposes. Our marketing website (esteem.team) uses only strictly necessary cookies and does not run advertising or analytics tracking cookies. The Esteem application (app.esteem.team) uses cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to keep the Services secure, together with functional cookies that remember your preferences.
We group the cookies we use into the following categories:
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Services to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as signing in, setting your privacy preferences, or filling in a form. They include cookies used for authentication, session management, load balancing, and security (for example, to protect against cross-site request forgery). Without these cookies, parts of the Services will not work. Because they are strictly necessary, they do not require consent.
3.2 Functional cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your preferences, language, or interface settings. If you do not allow these cookies, some features may not function properly.
3.3 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our Services so we can measure and improve performance. We currently do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies on our marketing website. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
3.4 Marketing cookies
These cookies would be used to deliver advertising relevant to you and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. We currently do not use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this Policy and obtain consent where required.
4. Cookies we use
The table below describes the main cookies and similar technologies we use. Because the specific cookies in use may change over time as we improve the Services, this table is provided as a representative list.
| Cookie / technology | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
esteem_session | Strictly necessary | Esteem (first-party) | Maintains your authenticated session in the application | Session / up to 30 days |
esteem_csrf | Strictly necessary | Esteem (first-party) | Protects forms and requests against cross-site request forgery | Session |
esteem_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Esteem (first-party) | Remembers your cookie preferences | 12 months |
esteem_prefs | Functional | Esteem (first-party) | Remembers interface preferences such as language and layout | 12 months |
Local storage (esteem.*) | Strictly necessary / functional | Esteem (first-party) | Stores application state and preferences in your browser | Until cleared |
We do not place third-party advertising or analytics cookies on the marketing website. Cookies may be set by third-party services you choose to connect to the Esteem application (for example, an embedded integration), in which case those cookies are governed by the relevant third party’s cookie policy.
5. How to manage cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways. Please note that removing or blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect the functionality of the Services, and you may not be able to sign in or use certain features.
5.1 Our cookie controls
Where we use non-essential cookies, you can manage your preferences through our cookie controls (for example, a “Cookie settings” link). Because our marketing website currently uses only strictly necessary cookies, there are no non-essential cookies to opt out of there.
5.2 Browser settings
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. The method varies by browser; you can usually find these controls in the “Settings”, “Preferences”, or “Privacy” menu. You can also set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set. For more information, see your browser’s help pages or visit https://www.allaboutcookies.org.
5.3 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no common industry standard for how to respond to DNT signals. Because we do not use tracking cookies, our use of cookies is unaffected by DNT signals; we will update this Policy if that changes.
5.4 Opting out of advertising
We do not use advertising cookies. If we introduce them in the future, you will be able to opt out using our cookie controls and through industry tools such as https://www.youronlinechoices.eu and https://optout.aboutads.info.
6. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies.
